Having worked extensively with diverse populations, I comfortably incorporate ethnic and cultural awareness into my practice. I also provide services in helping clients adjust to life transitions and learn positive ways to cope with stress and anxiety. I support people in reaching their potential to live the healthy, effective lives they want. I provide services to children, adolescents, adults, and couples.
Children have different ways of facing and coping with life's challenges than adults do. They can be significantly impacted by acutely stressful events, but have an incredible resiliency that allows them to continue to function effectively. The part of counseling that is consistent with children and adults is the essential need to trust and build a relationship with the therapist. It is vital to create a safe environment for a child where he or she feels there is no pressure or demands to behave or respond in a particular way. A child needs to be able to freely explore his or her thoughts and feelings without an agenda. They have to have a sense of control that they can guide the therapeutic process.
